If so, bring them to either of our Information Desks, and we'll gladly add them to our growing LEGO collection.

Endless Summer Reading Picks

While it's mid-July and our Summer Reading Program will be ending soon, there's still time to read in a cool place during these hot days. We've created a page for you listing our favorite links and lists for endless reading options.

If you'd like a more personal touch when selecting your next good book, head to one of our Information Desks. Our librarians can help you select titles to try depending on your reading tastes and preferences.

Want to try finding books on your own or when the library is closed? Check out these two resources in our Digital Library: Novelist Plus (adult and teen books) and Novelist K-8 Plus (for younger readers). Both offer plenty of reading recommendations for all ages.

J.K. Rowling's Newest Book

Have you heard? J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series and last year's The Casual Vacancy, published another book for adults this year under a pseudonym. Cuckoo's Calling is a mystery featuring a private investigator and his sidekick. The author, Robert Galbraith, was said to be an ex-military man releasing his first novel, and the book is supposed to be first in a series. Read this article for more details.

We own a copy of Cuckoo's Calling, but it's checked out now. You can place a hold, or we can place one for you at our Info Desk.

Help Name the Kids' Room

Calling all kids! We need your help in giving the Kids' Room an official name. We will be collecting your suggestions, putting them on a ballot, and inviting the entire community to vote for their favorite name. The winning name will be announced at our End of Summer Reading Party on Saturday, August 3.

Library Awarded Grant

The Library was awarded an Illinois State Library Back to Books Grant in the amount of $4,200 for our project entitled “Science Fair Superstars.” The funds are to be used to update the children's collection in subjects that middle schoolers need for their science fair projects such as anatomy, astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, and physics.

Look for these new selections to begin appearing on the nonfiction shelves in the Kids' Room by the time the new school year begins. We're hoping these grant-supported collection updates will further support the kids in our community when science fair project time comes around.
