Computer Tutorials

The Franklin Park Library provides free computer tutorials in both English and Spanish. These sessions last approximately 45 minutes with additional time to practice afterward. Each tutorial is limited to one participant for individualized instruction. Sign up by calling the Adult Services Department at 847-455-6016, ext. 2 or by stopping at the Adult Services Desk. We offer tutoring on:
Intro to Computers
- Become familiar with computer fundamentals and how to use the mouse.
Intro to the Internet (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)
- Learn Internet essentials along with basic search techniques.
Intro to E-mail (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)
- Learn to set-up a web-based email account through Google along with the functions of email.
Intro to Microsoft Word (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)
- Learn the basics of using this word processing software.
Intro to Microsoft Excel (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)
- Learn how to create and format spreadsheets.
Intro to Microsoft PowerPoint (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)
- Create your own slide show using this presentation software.

- Discover how to search and apply for jobs online.
Resume Help - (prerequisite Intro to Computers or prior computer experience)

Keyboarding Skills
- We offer one computer with Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, a fantastic program for improving your typing skills and speed. Ask at the Adult Services Desk for more info. Depending on availability, extra copies of this program may be checked out to use on your home computer.

Mouse Skills
