The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis KlauseA mysterious boy harboring a dark secret helps Zohe come to terms with her mother's terminal illness.

Without giving his secret away, I will say that this book is anything but stereotypical. It's a beautifully woven story with a dramatic and slightly unexpected ending. When it comes to the preternatural world of fiction, this is by far an original, captivating little tale.
