Our Homebound Delivery program brings library materials to homebound residents of the Franklin Park Public Library District each month. A librarian select books and other materials according to the preferences of the homebound library users, and then makes deliveries and picks up library materials. For more information, contact Janet Lynch Forde at 847-455-6016, ext. 222 or email homebound@fppld.org.
You must be a Franklin Park library card holder and unable to come to the library due to a permanent condition or a temporary condition. Examples include if you are no longer able to drive, have mobility problems, require extended bed rest, or have a broken leg.
Contact Janet Lynch Forde @ 847-455-6016, ext. 222 to arrange for an initial visit. During this visit, you will be asked to sign the Homebound Patron Release form and fill out an interview about your reading interests. If you don't already have a library card, the librarian who visits will arrange for you to get a card.
Once you have joined the Homebound program, you set the delivery schedule and decide how many items to receive at a time (up to 15). When you need more items, just call the library and a new delivery date will be set up. You may choose your own books, music, and movies if you wish. Order items online, or call in your requests. If you choose, items can also be ordered based on your answers on the enrollment form.
If you are homebound, you may also be interested in eMediaLibrary, a digital library of hundreds of ebooks & thousands of audiobooks available anytime with your Franklin Park Library card. Download files to your computer, ereader, cell phone, and mp3 player, all from home. You may have up to 5 items out at a time.
