Teachers With Class

These are the programs and services available to you and your students at the Franklin Park Public Library. Read this guide to learn more. If you have any questions regarding the highlighted services, please email us, call us at 847-455-6016 ext. 3, or fax: 847-455-6416, Attention: Youth Services Department.
Teacher Cards
Every teacher who teaches in Franklin Park is entitled to a Franklin Park Teacher Card. Each school must send the library a list of the names of teachers currently teaching at the beginning of each school year. Teachers then only have to come and show identification to get their card. For your convenience, cards will be kept at the Circulation Desk.
Assignment Alert
To make public materials accessible to students for homework assignments, the Youth Services Department staff offers an assignment service. If teachers will notify the library of the pending assignments, the library will set aside the needed materials. Copies of the Assignment Alert forms are available in your school libraries.
Electronic Resources
Your Teacher Card gives you access to a variety of free electronic resources for both you and your students. Follow this link to check out what we have to offer.
Homework Center
Copies of the school textbooks for Districts #83 and #84 for grades 3-8 are housed in the Youth Services Department.
Library Visits
Classes are welcome to visit the library for an orientation and tour or to do research. Librarians will structure the visit to meet the needs of the class. To enable the School Services Librarian to plan a tour or program that meets your needs, it is important to arrange your visit at least two weeks in advance. As an alternative, librarians can visit your class for stories and book talks. To arrange a visit, please email or call the Youth Services Department at 847-455-6016, ext. 3.
Teacher Request
Teachers can request books and other materials to be set aside for pick-up. Fill out the Teacher Request form. Please allow 5-10 days per request. Books will be held for three days after the pick-up date.
Computers Available
Computers are available for student use. PCs are running PowerPoint and Word 2007, and students can print out copies of papers for $.10/page. Nonresident students must pay a one dollar an hour fee to use the computers. Educational CD-ROMs are also available.
Internet Access
Students will be allowed to use the Internet if they are a Franklin Park resident and their parent or guardian has come into the library and signed the Internet Use for Minors permission slip. Permission slips must be signed by parents in person. Nonresident students can use the Internet for a $1 hour fee, if their parent or guardian has come into the library and signed permission for them to do so.
